Players must be 19 years of age or older. Each team match consists of 3 doubles courts. Level leagues are organized by combined NTRP rating (e.g., a 4.0 player and a 3.0 player together in a 7.0 level league). Teams form in the August-September timeframe, although players may be added to existing teams throughout the local season.
Local match play runs from September-November. There is no advancement beyond local play. Captains often use Fall season as warm-up season in preparation for Winter advancement leagues.
The true mixed doubles league format was abandoned in the 2008 season due to lack of organizational interest. Instead, an open, commitment-free, social mystery-doubles format was used. Registrations were held for each of 8 sessions (1 per week), and attendeees were matched up with a partner via random draw Play consisted of three 1-set matches, versus a different team each set.
For 2009 we are returning to team play with the 3 doubles match format.
