Local champions from the Adult Gender League played well in the Maryland District Championships held July 16-18, but were unable to advance beyond their flight round-robins.
At the men's 4.5 level, Team Frazier were unable to secure a win, but lost a very close match (2-3) to the eventual MD Champions from Frederick county.
At the men's 4.0 level, Team Kim came away with only 1 individual match win by way of the #1 Doubles team of Jason Wynn and Jeff Howard.
In men's 3.5, Team Buckler defeated Frederick 2 4-1, but then fell to the eventual flight winners from Montgomery.
For the women, Team Slade/Bellis at the 3.5 level had 4 individual wins, but no match wins.
The 3.0 Team Mansuetti also recorded 4 individual wins.

Registration Open for 2010 Quasi-Compass Doubles Bash Tournament

- Mixed Doubles Bash - Saturday August 28th, 2010
- Gender Doubles Bash - September 18th, 2010
Southern Maryland USTA Junior Tourney Draws 31 Youth
Written by Jason WynnThe first running of the Southern Maryland Junior L5, which featured 33 players competing in 13 divisions, wrapped up this past Friday at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
Competing in the Boy's 18 Singles division was local standout Robert Renfrow, who lost only 1 game on his way to the finals, where he defeated Ryan Indgjer 6-0, 6-0 in 23 minutes.

St. Mary's U18 Intermediate Team Wins 2010 State Tourney, Onto Sectionals
Written by Jason WynnOur local U18 Intermediate champions traveled to McDonogh School in Owings Mills last weekend to compete in the Maryland District Championships and returned home with gold. Team White, coached by Matt Taggert and Derek Sabedra, went undefeated to take the top spot in the tournament, which featured 6 top teams from around the state.

Local Adult League Winners Head to Districts This Weekend
Written by Jason WynnThe USTA Maryland 2010 Adult District Championships begin tomorrow in Columbia and Olney Maryland. 5 county teams who each won their respective local divisions are scheduled to play matches both Friday and Saturday, with the chance to advance to the finals on Sunday.
In the 3.0 Women's Division, team Get a Grip, captained by Marrisa Mansuetti, went undefeated in a 7 match season against team No Strings Attached, captained by Susan Maier.
Team Ms. Hitterz, captained by Liem Slade and Sue Bellis, clinched the womens' 3.5 division with a 4-3 record. Ms. Hitterz and team Serves You Right, captained by Wilman Cheung and Virginia King, were tied 3-3 going into their final match of the season. In the final contest, 4 of the 5 matches went to 3 sets, with team Ms. Hitterz winning the hard-fought battle 4-1.
On the men's side, Dick Buckler and his team "Buckler" bested team Stratton, captained by Bob Stratton, in the 3.5 division with a record of 6-3.
The 4.0 Men's division also saw a down-to-the-wire finish, with team Kim (captain Ken Kim) winning the league via matches-won tiebreaker. Team Kim and team Baig (captain Khadar Baig) both finished the season with 4-2 records, but in the final match team Kim clinched with 18 individual wins to team Baig's 17. Team Kim's #1 doubles team of Jason Wynn and Jeff Howard recorded the deciding win against Jason Lee and Khadar Baig, 6-2, 6-0. Team Keiter, captained by Rick Keiter, finished 3rd in the 4.0 division.
And in our first ever 4.5 division, team Fraiser (captain Josh Fraiser) won a 7 match season with a 5-2 record versus team Kim, also captained by Ken Kim.
